Ether Products Lead $600M Crypto ETP Flow Rebound in July
Global crypto exchange-traded products drew $600 million in net inflows during July 2026, their first positive month since April. Ether-native products led with $350 million, while bitcoin products drew $176 million, despite bitcoin commanding 78.5% of trading volume.
Global crypto exchange-traded products rebounded to inflows in July after two months of heavy redemptions, pulling in a collective $600 million. The rebound marks the first positive month for the category since April, when ETPs drew $2.9 billion, followed by $4.4 billion in redemptions in June and $2.5 billion in May.
Ether-native products led the July recovery, according to data compiled by 21Shares and reported by The Defiant. Ethereum products attracted $350 million of the $600 million total, while bitcoin products drew $176 million. XRP products added $34 million, Solana $13 million, and basket products $7 million.
The disparity between ether's inflow share and its trading footprint underscores where institutional capital moved in July. Bitcoin accounted for 78.5% of global crypto ETP and ETF turnover in the month, at $133.3 billion total volume. Ethereum commanded 11.1% of that volume, Solana 1.3%, and other assets 9.1%. Yet ether products' $350 million inflow relative to bitcoin's $176 million suggests new money favored the second-ranked asset by volume.
Price action in July favored such a rotation. Bitcoin closed the month up roughly 8 percent, its best monthly return since April. Ether outpaced it with a 19 percent gain. The broader market context turned negative: the S&P 500 fell 1 percent and the Nasdaq 100 dropped 7 percent, per analyst Matt Mena of 21Shares reporting to The Defiant. Crypto's July outperformance against equities may have triggered reallocation from traditional markets into crypto products, with ether's stronger month attracting the larger relative share of new capital.
Solana's dedicated U.S. spot ETFs, which launched in November 2025, continued a pattern of consistent inflows. U.S. Solana ETFs have drawn roughly $341 million in net flows year to date and posted positive net inflows every month since their debut, according to The Defiant's Matt Mena.
Ether's inflow momentum extended into early August. According to Farside Investors data cited by The Defiant, U.S. spot ether ETF flows registered net inflows of $53.1 million on August 4, $60.8 million on August 5, $92.1 million on August 6, and $49.6 million on August 7. A single outflow of $11.9 million occurred on August 3.
The rebound must be weighed against context: ether's flow lead came off a far smaller activity base than bitcoin. Bitcoin still accounts for 78.5 percent of trading volume while ether accounts for only 11.1 percent, suggesting that inflows may not signal a wholesale rotation out of bitcoin but rather a tactical reallocation from equity markets into ether products specifically. The July inflows also follow severe redemptions in the prior two months, raising the question of whether the recovery is durable or a brief reversal in a pattern of outflows.
Ethereum-based ETPs pulled in $350 million of a $600 million July inflow rebound, capturing a disproportionate share relative to their 11.1% of total crypto ETP trading volume.
Watch whether ether product inflows persist beyond the early August surge documented by Farside Investors, and whether bitcoin's volume dominance remains unchallenged despite the relative inflow shift. If ether inflows reverse or fall below $100 million monthly, the July rebound would read as a one-month volatility bounce rather than a signal of lasting capital rotation.
And that's the way it is.
